Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

The Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD) is committed to ensuring that Cyber Insights is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that everyone in our community — staff, students, and families — deserves equal access to cybersecurity information and resources.

We are actively working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

What we've built in

The following accessibility features are intentionally included in this site:

  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (links, buttons, forms, search) can be reached and activated using a keyboard alone.
  • Screen reader support — pages use semantic HTML and ARIA labels so that screen readers can accurately describe content, navigation, and interactive elements.
  • Sufficient color contrast — text and UI elements meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements against their backgrounds.
  • Reduced motion — animations (such as the campaign card flip effect) are disabled for users who have enabled the "reduce motion" preference in their operating system.
  • Dark mode — a dark color scheme is available for users who prefer it or have light sensitivity.
  • Resizable text — all text scales correctly when browser font size is increased up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Descriptive link text and image alt text — links describe their destination and all meaningful images have descriptive alternative text.
  • Skip to main content — a skip link is available at the top of every page so keyboard users can bypass repeated navigation.
  • Embedded video captions — videos in the Watch & Learn section are embedded from YouTube, which provides closed captions on supported videos.

Known limitations

While we strive to meet WCAG 2.1 AA on all pages, this site is actively being developed and some areas may not yet be fully compliant. Known limitations include:

  • Embedded third-party content — the YouTube video player and our Canva-hosted Escape Room are controlled by third parties and may not fully meet our accessibility standards. We encourage users who need an accessible alternative to contact us.
  • PDF and document attachments — any linked PDFs or external documents may not be fully accessible. Contact us to request an accessible version.
  • Interactive animations — some visual effects (such as the LetterGlitch effect on the Escape Room banner) are decorative and marked aria-hidden, but may not render correctly on all assistive technologies.

We are committed to resolving accessibility issues as we identify them. If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please let us know.

Reporting an accessibility barrier

If you experience difficulty accessing any part of this site, or if you find content that is not accessible to you, please contact us. We take all reports seriously and aim to respond within 5 business days.

When contacting us, please include:

Requesting an alternative format

If you need any content on this site in an alternative format — such as large print, plain text, or audio — please contact us at the email above and we will work with you to provide it in a timely manner.

Legal basis

CNUSD's commitment to web accessibility is grounded in the following laws and standards:

  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title II — requires state and local government entities, including school districts, to ensure their programs and communications are accessible to people with disabilities.
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act — requires federal agencies and recipients of federal funding to make electronic and information technology accessible.
  • California Government Code §11135 — prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in programs or activities funded by the state, and incorporates WCAG 2.1 AA as the standard for web accessibility.
  • WCAG 2.1, Level AA — the internationally recognized technical standard this site targets.
