Inside Cyber Insights
This page isn't linked anywhere. If you're here, you either typed the URL directly or you know the code. Either way — welcome.
On curiosity
The fact that you poked around until you found this page says something about you. Curiosity — the willingness to look past the surface, to ask "what's behind this?" — is probably the most important trait in cybersecurity. More than any certification or tool, it's the thing that separates people who react to incidents from people who prevent them.
Cyber Insights exists because we think that mindset is teachable. You don't have to be a security professional to think carefully about what you click, what you share, or who you trust. You just have to care enough to pay attention.
Thanks for paying attention.
How this was built
Cyber Insights is a static site — no traditional CMS, no database running behind it. Here's the stack, with no marketing speak:
- AstroBuilds the site from components and content. Outputs plain HTML — fast, no JavaScript overhead for readers.
- Tailwind CSS v4Utility-first styling with a custom design token system for the site's colors, type, and spacing.
- NotionServes as the content back-end. Articles and resources are managed in Notion databases and pulled at build time via the Notion API. Writers never touch code.
- Cloudflare PagesHosts and deploys the site. Every content update triggers a new build — the site stays current without a server running 24/7.
- Claude (Anthropic)Yes, AI helped build this. Claude was used extensively as a coding partner — writing components, debugging, and thinking through design decisions. We think being transparent about that matters.
What we're reading
A short list of things worth your time — no affiliate links, no sponsorships, just resources we genuinely recommend.
- The Cuckoo's Egg
A 1980s astronomer accidentally becomes a cybersecurity detective. Still one of the best entry points into the field — reads like a thriller.
- Risky Business
A no-nonsense weekly show on information security news. Great for keeping up with the threat landscape without drowning in jargon.
- Krebs on Security
Investigative journalism about cybercrime and security. If something big happened in the breach world, Brian probably broke the story.
A note for the curious
If you're a student or staff member at CNUSD and you found your way here — genuinely, that's cool. The kind of curiosity that leads you to dig around a website until you find a hidden page is exactly the energy the security field needs.
If you're interested in cybersecurity as a career, a hobby, or just something you want to understand better, reach out. We're happy to point you toward resources, answer questions, or just talk about what a career in this field actually looks like.
